Keep Your Roxor Running Strong: Complete Oil & Filter Service Guide

Regular oil and filter changes are the single most important maintenance task for your Mahindra Roxor. Whether you're running trails, hauling gear, or putting serious miles on your rig, fresh oil and clean filters protect your 2.5L diesel engine and keep it pulling hard. This guide walks you through a complete service: engine oil, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter — all in one session.

Tools Required

  • Oil drain pan (minimum 2-quart capacity)
  • 17mm socket or wrench (drain plug)
  • Oil filter wrench
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Clean rags or shop towels
  • Torque wrench (recommended)

Step 1: Warm Up the Engine

Run the Roxor for 5–10 minutes before draining. Warm oil flows out more completely and carries more contaminants with it. Park on a level surface and let it cool for 10 minutes so it's warm but not scalding.

Step 2: Drain the Engine Oil

  1. Place your drain pan under the oil drain plug on the bottom of the engine.
  2. Remove the drain plug using a 17mm socket. Turn counterclockwise.
  3. Allow oil to drain completely — typically 5–10 minutes.
  4. Inspect the drain plug washer. Replace if crushed or damaged.
  5. Reinstall the drain plug and torque to 25–30 ft-lbs.

Step 3: Replace the Oil Filter

  1. Locate the oil filter on the driver's side of the engine block.
  2. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old filter. Have a rag ready — it will drip.
  3. Lightly coat the rubber gasket on your new Roxor Black Oil Filter with fresh oil.
  4. Thread the new filter on by hand until the gasket contacts the housing, then tighten an additional 3/4 turn. Do not over-tighten.

Step 4: Refill with Fresh Oil

  1. Remove the oil fill cap on top of the engine.
  2. Add the correct quantity and spec of oil for your Roxor (refer to your owner's manual — typically 15W-40 diesel engine oil).
  3. Replace the fill cap and start the engine. Let it idle for 60 seconds.
  4. Check for leaks at the drain plug and filter. Shut off and recheck the dipstick level. Top off if needed.

Step 5: Replace the Air Filter

  1. Locate the air filter housing on the intake side of the engine.
  2. Unclip or unscrew the housing cover and remove the old filter element.
  3. Inspect the housing interior for debris and wipe clean with a dry rag.
  4. Install the new Roxor Air Filter Element and resecure the housing cover.

Pro tip: Check your air filter every 25 hours of operation in dusty conditions. A clogged air filter kills fuel economy and power.

Step 6: Replace the Fuel Filter

Fuel filter service intervals vary — consult your owner's manual, but every 12 months or 6,000 miles is a solid baseline.

  1. Relieve fuel system pressure before opening any fuel lines.
  2. Locate the fuel filter assembly (typically near the firewall or frame rail).
  3. Place a rag under the filter to catch residual fuel.
  4. Disconnect the fuel lines and remove the old filter element.
  5. Install the new OEM Fuel Filter Element Kit and reconnect lines securely.
  6. Cycle the ignition key 3–4 times (on/off without cranking) to prime the fuel system before starting.

Service Interval Summary

Service Interval
Engine Oil & Oil Filter Every 3,000 miles or 6 months
Air Filter Every 12,000 miles or annually (more often in dusty conditions)
Fuel Filter Every 6,000 miles or 12 months
